What is Worship?

First, think to yourself...

What is worship? Why do I worship?

Worship is not just about singing words and lifting our hands; it is about rejoicing as one voice in the presence of Jesus. Worship is not only about why we sing, but its about what happens when we sing. When we sing, we encounter the peace of His presence. Believe it or not, God loves singing. God sings over us and we sing over Him- a mutual exchange. Zephaniah 3:17 says,

"The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exalt over you with loud singing."

We are in absolute love with Christ, and because of that, we love worship. Just like any relationship, we want to do things that makes God happy. "God I want to be more like you and if this is something you love, I will worship and sing to you." Worship is a way we express our love to Him. For some people that could be dancing, singing, shouting, clapping, or getting on our knees and surrendering to Him. Worship is life. Worship is a time where we can pour out to God everything bad going on in our lives, as well as dwell on the good He has provided. When we worship, we get to experience heaven. The Lord dwells in the praises of His people.

Psalm 22:3

"Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel (His people)."

The word UNIVERSE translates to ONE SONG. In just one song, God put the universe into existence. When we are all together something happens. The whole atmosphere shifts, the seen and the unseen world. When we worship together, His presence is so profound that we begin to have a war cry that dismisses all evil. Depression turns into joy. Anxiety turns into peace. Doubt turns into belief. Fear turn into courage. He is worthy of our affection and admiration and for that we will praise Him.

Jesus, teach us how to sing. Teach us how to take on our role as a worshipper.

"Its your breath in our lungs so we pour out our praise to you"
